Funding
Funding amounts depend on the student’s educational setting for the 2026–27 school year.
Private School Students
Students attending an approved private school or a pre-K or kindergarten program receive 85% of the statewide average public school funding.
Award amount: $10,474 (set by TEA for 2026–27)
Private School Students with a Disability
Students with a disability enrolled in an approved private school or pre-K/kindergarten program may receive up to $30,000.
Must have an IEP on file with TEA
Award amount is based on the funding the public school district would receive to provide services under the IEP
Common Qualifying Disabilities
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Specific Learning Disabilities
Dyslexia
Dysgraphia
Dyscalculia
Speech or Language Impairment
Hearing Impairment or Deafness
Visual Impairment
Intellectual Disability
Emotional Disturbance
Orthopedic Impairment
Other Health Impairment
ADHD (when it substantially affects learning)
Epilepsy
Chronic health conditions
Traumatic Brain Injury
Multiple Disabilities
All Other Participating Students
Students who are homeschooled or not enrolled in private school or pre-K/kindergarten may receive:
$2,000 annually
